The COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC) is a global initiative which aims to support the safe and equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to low and middle-income countries.

The COVAX AMC pools purchasing power and risk to help fast-track manufacturing and make sure developing countries have the funds to buy COVID-19 vaccines. Australia is one of many countries to donate money to the fund which is supporting 92 countries.

Australia has committed $130 million to the COVAX AMC. Australia’s commitment is further demonstrated by our advocacy at global and regional forums, including as Vice-Chair of the Gavi Board, in which Australia has called for the most inclusive eligibility criteria for COVAX.

Through Australia’s advocacy, many countries in the Indo-Pacific region will have access to a diverse range of COVID-19 vaccines.
