Bruce is a Registered Nurse with clinical expertise in haematology and infectious diseases. He has extensive experience working in international program management in the fields of both education and global health. As an Australian Volunteer deployed to work with UNAIDS Indonesia, Bruce managed two projects, the first explored barriers to condom use and pre-exposure prophylaxis. The second was the Fast Track Cities Project, to upscale HIV testing and treatment services in Jakarta. Bruce also assisted in the emergency response when Central Sulawesi was devastated by a tsunami, earthquake and liquefaction in September 2018.

Bruce holds a Master of Public Health (Global Health), Bachelor of Letters (Hons), Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of French Language and Culture. He speaks English, French and Bahasa Indonesia.

The Health Security Corps deploys experts through the Australian Volunteers Program to build capacity for the prevention, detection and control of infectious disease across the Indo-Pacific.
