The Centres of Research Excellence in One Health Research will strengthen resilience to emerging health threats and emergencies in the Indo-Pacific. It will contribute to building more resilient and equitable health systems in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, fostering a One Health approach to addressing health challenges and deepen partnerships between Australian research institutions and their counterparts in the region. This will be done through supporting the conduct and development of innovative, high quality, collaborative research into health risks arising from the intersection of people, animals, the environment, and climate change, promoting effective translation of One Health research into knowledge gain, health policy and/or practice and providing opportunities to expand and improve collaborations between research teams and disciplines and build workforce capacity and capability.
This initaitive will provide two competitive grants to esatblish two Centres of Research Excellence in One Health. The successful applicants are expected to improve outcomes related to disease prevention and controls, resilience in health systems across the Southeast Asia and Pacific region and stronger research partnerships across the Southeast Asia and Pacific region.
The CRE Scheme is managed by Australia's National Health and Medical Research Council, and this scheme will be equally co-funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the NHMRC.
