The Centre aims to support PNGIMR to build its role as the lead institution for medical and health systems research in PNG. The Centre will support PNGIMR’s reform efforts by providing:
- A strategic adviser to the new Director and the executive for up to three years to help implement important administrative, financial and some targeted structural changes;
- Support to the long-standing “Buttressing Coalition” of PNGIMR’s international research partner institutions.
A new agreement will see Australian research partner institutions making, for the first time, annual core funding contributions to PNGIMR, matched by contributions from DFAT; Investment in collaborative research projects between PNGIMR and Australian research institutions through our Applied Health Systems Research, Research for One Health Systems Strengthening partnership with ACIAR and potentially further projects to come.
