The Pac-EVIPP+ program goal is to link partners and programs across the Pacific and Southeast Asia regions for a strong and integrated applied epidemiology workforce. Its main objective is to build and support a strong field epidemiology community through advanced learning pathways, multi-sectoral collaboration, and networks for effective response to health security and public health threats.
We aim to develop and support countries that are in the most need of resources and assistance to strengthen their field epidemiology workforce. We will devote 80% of the program to working in selected countries in the Pacific region and 20% of the program to Laos and Cambodia.
Strengthening field epidemiology workforce across Pacific and SE Asia regions is critical to improving capabilities in health security in the region. The workforce will be equipped to contribute to routine surveillance activities and plan for emergency response which will strengthen the ability of Pacific countries to prevent, detect and manage outbreaks during emergencies and arising from emerging infectious diseases.
The program will support alumni from Field Epidemiology Training Programs and public health programs in these regions to develop and deliver training to strengthen the One Health interface, incorporating climate responsive approaches using regional networks for effective program delivery.
