Australia’s partnership with Regional Emergency and Critical Care Systems Strengthening Initiative (RECSI) consortium will produce more resilient and equitable health systems across the Pacific and Timor-Leste by strengthening emergency and critical care capacity. RECSI will address capability gaps highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and advance World Health Assembly recommendations to strengthen universal health coverage.
Emergency and critical care systems play a vital role in mitigating communicable disease threats by providing opportunities to identify and respond to outbreaks. RECSI is focuses on enhancing workforce capacity and training, systems and processes, data and research, and leadership and governance. By focusing on these key areas, RECSI aims to build strong acute care systems and professional networks across the region.
RECSI operates across three geographical streams: Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea and the broader Pacific (with activities predominantly delivered in Fiji as a central hub for regional efforts).
