CSIRO’s Australian e-Health Research Centre is supporting the governments of the Philippines and Fiji to adopt national digital health standards and health information exchange systems (interoperability) through the PHR Strengthening Standards Capability Project (SSCP).
The project’s objectives are to improve the ability of both countries’ health systems to share electronic health data in consistent and coordinated ways; and to build local expertise that can further develop and support these digital health systems.
Through workshops, webinars and connectathons, CSIRO and its SSCP partners are building digital health capabilities and expertise in both countries, as well as fostering local and regional networks (e.g. communities of practice) that will sustain project impact; providing a toolbox of digital resources; and supporting the development of national Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource implementation guides.
Ultimately, SSCP is helping both countries establish systems and standards that will streamline health data collection, enable sharing and testing of this data, and allow for accurate and relevant information to be generated that will improve public health planning, surveillance and decision-making.
