Applications are now open for citizens from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam to apply for an ASEAN-Australia Health Security Fellowship. Fostering professional development of field epidemiologists, the fellowship provides scholarships to undertake a Masters in Applied Epidemiology (MAE), offered by the Australian National University (ANU).
The MAE provides knowledge and experience for a rewarding career in epidemiology, and skills to manage health security threats. The two year research degree emphasises learning-by-doing through periodic coursework in Canberra and a 22 month field placement in the fellows home country.
Eligibility
- Must be a citizen of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam
- Meet the admission requirements to enrol full-time in a program of study for the MAE, including competency using epidemiological methods
- Qualify for the relevant visa, if required Costs for a stipend, travel and tuition fees will be covered by the ASEAN-Australian Health Security Fellowship.
The MAE program is Australia’s only Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and is part of the international network of Field Training Programs in Epidemiology & Public Health Interventions Network (TEPHINET).
Funded by the Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security, the ASEAN-Australia Health Security Fellowship Program helps to strengthen public health systems in our region and build relationships that better prepare Australia and ASEAN countries for future disease outbreaks.
Fellowships to commence with the first study block in Canberra in February 2019. Applications close 21 November 2018.
